Computer Is Not Turning On After Sleep Mode in Window 7




Standard steps to resolve most sleep suspend problems

1. Click start and type DEVICE MANAGER and select it from the list

2. Click next to keyboard and double click the name of your keyboard




3.If the Power Management tab is available, proceed to the next step.
If the Power Management tab is not available, click the Change Settings button if it appears below the Device status box. The same Keyboard Properties window opens with the Power Management tab available.
If you are prompted for an Administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

4.Click the Power Management tab and make sure that the box next to Allow this device to wake the computer is checked.




5. Click OK . Test to make sure that the keyboard can now wake the computer. Continue using these steps if the computer still cannot wake from sleep mode.

Step 2: Changing Device Manager


1. Click start and type DEVICE MANAGER and select it from the list


2.Click the arrow next to the device that needs to be adjusted.
  • If you are using an optical mouse, select Mice and other pointing devices.
  • If the computer is using an "always-on" Internet connection, select Network Adapters .
  • To check the high definition audio settings, click Sound, video, and game controllers.
3.Double-click the name of the device to open a Properties window.

4.If the Power Management tab is available, proceed to the next step.

If the Power Management tab is not available, click the Change Settings button. The same Properties window opens with the Power Management tab available.

If you are prompted for an Administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

5.Click the Power Management tab, and remove the check next to Allow this device to wake the computer . You might need to do this for each of the devices listed in the previous step, mice, keyboards, and sound.


6.Click OK , close the open windows, and then restart the computer.

7.Restart the computer

8. If the issue still exist then go to the next steps.

Steps3: Checking for a problem with the connected device 


Some devices can cause sleep/standby issues. Use these steps to check for a problem with the devices connected to the computer.

1.Disconnect all non-essential connected devices (printers, scanners, USB drives, etc.).

2.Restart the computer with only the original mouse, monitor, and keyboard connected.

If this resolves the sleep/standby issue, one of the connected devices was causing the problem. Replace one device and test to see if the issue occurs again. Continue adding devices and testing until you find the device that is causing the problem.

If the issue still exists, go to the next Step.


Step 4: Checking for problems when the keyboard or mouse is using a USB 3.0 port

When using USB 3.0 ports, some computers don't wake from the keyboard or mouse, or you can't put the computer to sleep using the keyboard or mouse. Use these steps to check for a problem with the USB ports. This issue applied to systems using AMD firmware.
Check the mouse and keyboard connections.

If a USB 3.0 ports is used, reconnect the device to a USB 2.0 ports.

If the issue still exists, go to the next Step.

Step 5: Using Microsoft System Restore

If sleep and hibernate modes previously worked, use System Restore to revert the computer back to a time when the mode worked. If the issue has always existed, skip this step.

Perform a system restore to return the computer to a previous state when the sleep or hibernate mode worked.

1.Save any open files and close all programs. Backup any important files.

2.Move the mouse pointer to the lower left corner of the screen, right-click, and select Control Panel from the menu.

3.Click System and Security .

4. Click System


5. Click System Protection



6.Click System Restore... if it is not dimmed. Follow the on-screen instructions to restore the computer to a previous point.

If System Restore... is dimmed and unavailable, go to the next step.

7. Click Configure on the system Protection tab

8. Click Turn On System Protection and click OK

 9. Click Create
10. Click close when restore point is successfully created

11. Click System Restore...Follow the on-screen instruction

12. Click Start


13.Click Arrow beside shutdown option , and select sleep to put the computer in sleep mode

If the issue still exist, then go to the next steps

Step 6: Disabling screen saver

1. Click start and type CONTROL PANEL and select from the list 

2. Click Appearance and Personalisation


3. Under PersonalizationChange screen saver

4. In the screen saver setting window , set it to None click ok 


5.Click start and click on arrow beside shutdown click on sleep

This will resolve this issue, If the issue still persist then perform RECOVERY.
